Oyuki was smiling at her, though her eyes did not meet hers. Instead, she looked at her face, her forehead, the top of her head. With an airy chuckle, she tugged on Atsu’s arm, forcing her to take a step closer. At the same time, she reached up with her other hand and gently brushed her fingertips against her hair.
Down along Atsu’s face, snowflakes drifted slowly, softly.“You sat there too long, kimi,” Oyuki said, voice gentle. “You will get sick like that.”
Atsu hummed noncommittally in response, too focused on the warmth of Oyuki’s touch, not only atop her head but against her wrist too. She did not have a tight grip on her. If Atsu wanted, she could easily slip out of her hold. But she did not want to and did not move even as Oyuki shifted her grip and ran her fingers down along her opened palm until she could grab a hold of her hand, fingers intertwined like it was the most natural thing to do.
Quietly, Atsu curled her fingers and held on.

Oyuki notices her the moment she walks into the Red Crane Inn—a woman dressed in the colour of death, furs and a thick cape of straw guarding her from the icy winds of Teshio Ridge, dual katana on her belt. And on her head, she wore a wide-brimmed, black straw hat, worn from doubtless years of hard travel on the road.
From her corner on the slightly raised platform, Oyuki carefully observes the newcomer as she is greeted by Ume, the inn’s owner. The edges of the hat prevent Oyuki from catching the details of the woman’s face, but she doesn’t need them to know that this is no ordinary traveller, or even mercenary. The tales of the onryō have travelled even as far as the frozen north. Quietly tuning her shamisen, Oyuki wonders if this is her chance to bring Dojun down at last.Ghost of Yotei through Oyuki's eyes, and what it means to find peace.
