Summary
Bilbo Baggins came home one sunny spring day exhausted, half starved and pregnant. His heart was broken, his name cursed by the dwarves he had saved and his house was on auction by the worst relative you could imagine. It was, understandably, a terrible day.
Once it comes out that Bilbo is *expecting,* however, even the most prim and proper hobbits are scandalised at the poor treatment he received by the conspicuously absent father (and, by extension, all his kind). The Shire rallies around their poor, ill-treated and half-starved kinsman, and the climate of dwarvish relations takes a decidedly chilly turn. -

Summary
Yavanna created hobbits to bring blessings and bounty to the creatures of Middle Earth. However, after centuries of isolation in the Shire, most have forgotten almost everything about the halflings, especially how those blessings touched each of the races and what the presence of a hobbit did to the beings of Middle Earth. With Bilbo Baggins crossing the world to serve as the fourteenth member of the Company of Erebor, the races are about to be reminded.

Shadis curls his lips and sits down as well, looking absorbed in his own thoughts. Erwin watches him, chest rising and falling slowly as he waits for the Commander to process the new information.
“They created something they couldn’t control,” Shadis reasons quietly. “They created monsters.”
“Assets,” Erwin corrects him. “If one knows how to use them.”
“And you think you are capable of using one?”
Erwin tilts his head to the side. “I think, given the right circumstances, I can. Wouldn’t you rather join the Survey Corps and finally get the Citizenship, rather than spend your entire life in the Underground?”

The last time they'd seen each other, Wei Ying had been digging through Lan Zhan's garbage. They'd made eye contact over the shredded bags, the week's trash scattered around him like stinky, oversized Lego.
Lan Zhan's eyes had been wide with horror, and Wei Ying's had been equally wide with feigned innocence. He'd reached out slowly, maintaining the eye contact, and then flipped over the food waste bin full of onion peel and carrot skin as a distraction and slunk off into the night. Probably not his finest moment.
