Summary
Madeline squeezes her breasts and winces. She’s sitting in the ridiculously small toilet of her dressing-room in the Palace Theater with the atrocious notion that she might not be able to fit her growing chest in her costumes much longer. She sticks her thumbnail between her teeth and closes her eyes. The rest of her is fine, more than fine actually. Her skin is softer, her hair seems lit from within and she isn’t putting on weight. Only her breasts have begun to inflate. They are sore too. This is the main problem.
It is, Madeline tells herself firmly, the only problem.

Madeline might be pregnant, her only (apparent) hope is Helen. Everything goes wrong. -

The redhead listens idly, if she does at all. She adjusts the wide rimmed hat she sports every week for that exact event. The only sanctioned outing by the highest instances.
Madeline’s voice drifts in and out of her hearing scope, just as the wind would through old trees.

50 years after the ending, Helen loses her train of thoughts and Madeline brings her back on the path.

She cracks an eye open to look down at the woman curled against her chest, only to be met with a stare way too intense for a lazy Sunday morning. Helen lets out a measured breath.

Would she have purposely fallen down a flight of stairs in front of the entire cast and crew? Questionable.
