    Inspired by Kitauji's rise to nationals, Aoi Saito is intent on playing the saxophone again. After a chance encounter with old friends and making new ones at Kyoto University, a spat in the university concert band leads them to form their own intercollegiate ensemble. What starts as just a nostalgic indulgence leads to Aoi reuniting with Haruka, Asuka and Kaori, reforming the quartet they once were, or were meant to be.

    With many recent Kitauji graduates joining them, Aoi is thrust back into the concert band world as they face the new challenge of being student-led. Although it is their shared history that binds them together, it is also what threatens to tear them apart. Inevitably, arguments arise over what they want to make of their band, and the shadows of their turbulent time at Kitauji come back to haunt them. With Aoi struggling to manage her studies, the band, and all her relationships, will this second chance be the band experience that could have been, or will they just repeat history?
