She’s also been Carson’s post-game fuckbuddy for the last three years, but that’s by-the-by.

Summary
It’s early fall 1943 and the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) has just concluded their first season. Greta is headed to NYC to start her new career with Vivienne Hughes and Carson is preparing to go on her own personal journey to discover who she is when she’s not being Mrs. Shaw. This picks up immediately following the last scene in episode 8 (Perfect Game). Embarrassed and scorned by Carson’s infidelity, Charlie demands that she return home with him so that they can start a family. To spite what’s in her heart, Carson complies for fear of being outed. While waiting at the train station, a series of unfortunate events leads Greta into thinking that Carson has lied to her about leaving her husband. Carson is now stuck between two worlds: trying to rectify her relationship with Greta, while planning her escape from domesticity with Charlie. Carson’s final lifeline is to get Greta a message using a code they created during the season. This story follows that journey across the 8 months between the end of the 1943 season and the start of the new one in 1944.
