So. I’ve changed a few things for this to make sense.
1. The people on Earth didn’t disappear, they mostly fought each other after the sun began to dim noticeably
2. The stars didn’t disappear, but instead, they were eaten quickly by mutated astrophage
3. Simon went into space almost directly after Grace but before people started fighting, instead of growing up in space (I wanted to avoid uncomfortable age gaps)
Okay, now that that’s settled:
Grace was happy on Erid, but he was also bored, and he couldn’t help but wonder how other planets were surviving, so he and a few Eridians went out to see how other planets were fairing with astrophage, only to discover that it was now mainly targeting moons, and also forming communities around itself. Communities that made liquids that looked scarily like blood. -

He ran onto the scene, and something drew him into an ally near the bodies. He got yelled at after, but he knew what he saw. A sobbing child clutching onto a man made of shadows and yellow eyes and a little girl on fire tugged at his treanchcoat. He saw him, his yellow eyes shooting towards him almost fearfully. He shifted the young boy in his arms and held a finger to his lips before disappearing into the darkness. Jim was pulled away before he could do anything. Chewed out for moving from the scene.
Twenty years later he was still looking at that case file and wondering what that ghost was. Until one night at the circus… -

Tim likes Sasha, and she has told him multiple times that he’s “not the love interest” which is fine. That’s fine. He could deal. But recently Sasha had started acting. . . Strange. It wasn’t noticeable at first, her bringing him a cup of tea whenever she made one for herself or offering to help him with research even before she was done with her own. Not technically unusual, but not something she would normally do. Tim was happy with this for a while until during there usual banter rather than denying that she liked him she told him to shut up. That was weird.
