Summary
They called her Amélie Lacroix, once. Now, they call her nothing - call her nothing because they do not see her, locked away in her Château, ever since that night.

Now, though, her Creator - the Witch of the Wilds, as cruel as she is clever - has decided that Amélie is to sit in her sullen silence no longer. She has far better plans for the Vampire Countess.

Now Amélie is forced to confront her new existence as a Vampire, and all that it entails - and do her best not to succumb to it and lose all that she's fought so hard to gain.
(A fairly dark-toned and prose-y exploration of world and character, crafted specially for Halloween! Inspired by a comic done by dinochoobs, linked at the beginning. With some pretty toxic relationships and a lot of grim subject matter, it's far more Sweeney Todd than Nightmare Before Christmas, let it be known beforehand - but there's some hope in there as well.)

After everything, being turned into a vampire seemed like a fresh start. She didn't account for the backstabbing, the condescension, and the perpetual attempts to keep her in her place. Desperate to start the climb up the social ladder, she makes up a lie. It's a stroke of good fortune that she stumbles upon the one man who could make her fictions into reality.
What a shame then that the man is anything but human.

It takes Virginia a few moments to remember that tonight, the spot next to her should be warm, occupied by her husband who is finally on home leave after half a year of absence. But Darrow's not in bed, and the pillow and sheets next to her are cool. He hasn't been in bed all night.

Summary
Remy LeBeau begins to lose control of his powers at the start of his marriage, and an accident leaves his brother-in-law Julien on his deathbed. Remy is exiled and remains on the run for years, believing that he has left his life with the Thieves Guild behind him. However, when his wife Belladonna passes away, he is brought home for her funeral, and his life sinks to a new low.
Rogue put her best friend Cody Robbins in a coma when her powers first developed, and she still feels tremendous pain and guilt, though she insists she is fine. Still, she returns to Mississippi every year to visit him and is struggling to move on. During this trip, she is accompanied down South by friend and fellow X-Men team member Storm, who has a funeral to attend in New Orleans.
When Storm decides to bring Remy home as potential new team member, the similarities between their past experiences force Remy and Rogue to begin to face their demons.

Summary
Teammates Rogue and Remy ended a budding relationship and left the X-Men so that they could pursue the lives they'd always wanted for themselves.
Remy was given the choice to end his exile from Louisiana and see his family (and Tante Mattie) again, so long as he returned home to lead the United Guilds alongside his estranged wife Belladonna.
Rogue was offered an opportunity to live a normal life with a partner she could touch, so long as that partner was Erik Lenscherr.
Both had reservations about leaving the team and each other, but they moved on, expecting to never see each other again.
Years later, they are both struggling to feel settled, and they both jump at the chance to temporarily help the X-Men when something strange begins happening at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
Neither expects the other to be there, and their reunion brings up old feelings and makes them question whether they're really living the lives they want to live.
