    Riften is, as any long-term denizen of Skyrim or short-term gossip knows, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. The Jarl is a mere puppet to the commercial interests of Black-Briar Meadery, the Thieves Guild has lost its sense of honor with its good luck, and the people of Riften live in fear of just about everything there is to fear.

    To a girl from Mournhold, Riften’s almost cute. It’s got nothing on home, that’s for sure. But it’s the closest thing Skyrim’s got to home, and equally important, it’s much less snowy than Windhelm. Fewer xenophobic fetchers running around, too.

    She might as well join up with the local guild. Try to, anyway. What are they gonna do, kill her?
