Summary
A bustling liberal arts university was the last place Li Tianxi expected to find herself.
She was sure Li Tianchen felt the same. They'd spent their entire lives carrying burdens neither could handle, having become orphans at a young age due to the cruel hands of fate ripping their childhoods apart mercilessly. It left them with a burning envy for the world they'd been ostracized from. And yet there they were: attending orientations as if the two belonged in that sphere of normalcy others took for granted.
In other words: an alternate timeline prior to the establishment of the Time Photo Studio, where the Li twins enroll in university. Shortly after, Li Tianxi encounters Qiao Ling, who ropes her into the university's photography club with her brother, Cheng Xiaoshi, as the sole other member. Slowly but surely, through those lighthearted days she finds herself thrown into after years of strife, she starts to unravel the walls that she'd built around herself.
But can she afford to open up? After all, there was a reason why the twins, troubled as they were, enrolled in a regular school. They weren't here to have fun. There was a mission to prioritize.
"It's for a chance at a better life."

Summary
Chloe always dreamt of the fairy tale Happily Ever After of falling in love with a story book prince, and grew up with a very black and white version of right and wrong. Red challenges everything she ever thought she wanted.
Now she's living in the shades of grey.
(This is a spin off of my other story Red's Descent. For full context of a few of these scenes, you should probably read that one first. This is not a complete rewrite. While I did rewrite some scenes from Chloe's perspective, most are new or continuations from the first story.)

Summary
Muu's smile has a predatory edge. "But be warned. If I wanted something, I'd get it."
"And what exactly could you want from me?" Rei asks challengingly.
Muu takes a step back, but it's not a sign of Rei's triumph. She just giggles in amusement. "Touché. There's nothing special about you. They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder, Rei-chan, but your tactics fail on me~"

Kusunoki Muu is unique in many ways. She is perfect and sweet, like ice cream on a late afternoon in the summer. Rei, on the other hand, isn't interesting at all. While Muu is beautiful and warm, like the sun, Rei, trapped in her orbit, depends on her light but remains out of reach - isolated and yearning, like the distant moon.
Still, she is blinded by the rays, unable to see the shadows that Muu casts. But as the old story goes, anyone who flies too close to the sun is doomed to fall. What happens when Rei sees beyond Muu's brightness?

Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:
“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”
