Summary
Subaru was bored.
Decided to go watch a karate tournament near down.
Oh, Tobias called him?
The mall. Go to socialize? Sure. Why not.
It was getting dark, we need a shortcut, an abandoned construction site. The others suggested it. Sure.
What could possibly go wrong? (Sarcasm).
Subaru hates being right.
Six ordinary teenagers take a shortcut through a construction site on their way home from the mall, looking for an easy way home. What they find is a wounded alien who, in his desperation, gives them a gift and a warning. The gift -- to become any animal they touch. The warning -- that their planet is under attack. And they, six untrained kids, are the only people in a position to protect it.
Help will come -- eventually. But until then, it's up to the Animorphs, and they'd better come to grips with aliens in general, their new enemy in particular, and their new morphing powers fast. The freedom of the world is at stake.

What he didn't expect was a tiny French firecracker who seems to be keeping too many secrets about why exactly she keeps showing up at all the same places as Jason, and who has downright alarmingly unconventional and unorthodox fighting skills. It's obvious to him that she's an agent on behalf of some third player on this game-board, but Jason isn't certain who.
All he knows for sure is that somehow, this little pixie is going to be the death of him.

He didn't have Fushiguro as support. He didn't even have Okkotsu as support.
Yuuji was inconceivably, utmostly, wholly, not-awesomely fucked because he was in the year 2005.
🔴 OR: Stuck over a decade in the past, Yuuji has resolved to do anything to ensure his future doesn't come to be.
It would really be a lot easier if Geto Suguru wasn't so overbearing, if Gojo Satoru wasn't such an asshole, if Ieiri Shoko stopped instigating things, and if Yuuji were just a tiny bit smarter.
But he was on his own, so damn it if he wasn't going to work with what he got.

In the year 277 AC, the Mad King's second son rides north.
