“How was your last day kid?”
“Pretty shitty but at least tomorrow I can spend all day at the arcade with Eddie.” Richie reluctantly responded looking outside the window as his father drove them away, his reflection faint in the window as he stared out. The strong odor of cigarettes taking up the entire car, causing him to slightly cough into his elbow.
"You hang out with that boy too much." His father groaned out before taking another puff of his cigarette, causing Richie to go silent, avoiding his fathers gaze.
"He is just my friend dad-"
"Yeah that's all he better be- my son is not no fucking fairy."
Richie wanted to say more, to defend himself, to curse back at him but nothing came out. Holding his tongue back, a rare occurrence, only happening when his father hit a nerve. Once they drove up to their old house he got out of the suffocating car and quickly went inside to talk to his mother, "Mom?" he yelled out for her.

Richie Tozier is forced to move to a completely different town to live with his cousins, Mike, Holly, and Nancy. Knowing he will have the worst summer ever, being apart from his best friends for the first time, he meets a new boy he takes a liking too.

Summary
Will flushed as Richie’s eyes, magnified by his lenses, very obviously raked over him, like he was trying to study or analyze him. If he wasn’t feeling so scrutinized he’d be entertained by how obvious it must be anytime Richie looked at anything. It was like his glasses exposed him rather than shielded him.
He looked almost wooden now, like he had been startled too, his eyes widening and widening impossibly more, making Will subconsciously worry he’d fall into them and get lost, until a little sigh-like sound punched out of Richie’s chest.
“Whoa.”
After the last two years of suffering and inter-dimensional threats, the only thing Will wanted was to spend a nice summer with his friends. Too bad they were too busy with their new relationships. With Dustin now away for summer camp, he dreaded the endless afternoons of fifth-wheeling to come.
After everything that happened last summer, Richie's mother thought it was best if he visited family for a while. Anything to get him out of a town that was clearly getting to him, even if Richie didn't think she knew why. He dreaded being away from the only people who could understand.
They could have never expected each other.

“Try...” Will couldn't finish that line, not when he felt Richie burning a hole in the side of his face.
Richie seamlessly continued what Will had left hanging.
“Kiss, like... like everyone else does, you know. Lips touching, maybe a little tongue and saliva, and... whatever you want”
Richie Tozier came to visit his family in Hawkins for the summer of 1985 without many expectations. It was just a coincidence that Will Byers was the only one in the Party without a partner, a perfect opportunity for practice for when they both got girlfriends, right?
