Shane is technically moving on.
Objectively, he’s doing great. He has a stable relationship with James, an emotionally healthy businessman who texts him good morning every day, folds laundry correctly, and somehow makes stability feel both comforting and slightly alarming.
The problem is that Shane has unfortunately never loved anything normally in his entire life, and definitely not Ilya, his ex-boyfriend, former secret, and current ongoing psychological condition.
Shane and Ilya broke up after the Boxing Day fight and have both theoretically moved on. Now Ilya has Alice and Shane has James.
Unfortunately, they are still completely in love with each other and handling that with the emotional maturity of two men who communicate primarily through hockey and prolonged eye contact.

Enter Bradley Summers: twenty-three, stocky, sharp-tongued, and stronger than anyone expects. He can bench 315 on a normal day and deadlift close to 600 when he’s angry, but on Grindr, guys still keep shoving him into the Bear/Cub box. Brad isn’t lean or cut. He looks like a rugby player, a bouncer, or maybe just a guy who likes beer and pizza a little too much.
