Summary
[Vera] goes to Mass on every holy day, and many other days. She works to do good in the world, and to continue her father’s legacy. She cooks for Cyrus and cleans up after him and drives him to school and to friends’ houses and makes herself love him unconditionally. If she never finds joy in her duties, then she must be mistaken about how true joy feels.
She gives up alcohol, except for rare social occasions and the Eucharist. She gives up being with women. She gives up her atheist friends when they question her devotion. She gives up cigarettes slowly, painfully, stopping and starting until one day she realises she hasn’t thought about buying a pack with her groceries in weeks.
All things considered, it’s easy to relinquish things. Letting go is easier than holding on. She just closes her eyes and remembers the tranquility she felt that night after her confession. Even if she can’t reach that tranquility, imagining it is something.

Summary
As Kenzo reaches his bedside, Dieter stirs, turning over enough to reveal his face. It's pallid, and Kenzo is reaching for his forehead even as the boy squints open his eyes.
“Tenma,” he rasps. “When’d you…”
Sure enough, he has a fever. Kenzo takes his hand back and meets Dieter’s barely-open eyes. “I just got home. How are you feeling?”
The kid groans as loudly as he likely can and says, “Bad.”

"Once the train pulls into the station and stops, Emma is one of the first people off. It feels good to have solid brick under her boots, to look around at the lingering Christmas decorations as she heads for the north exit, even to feel the sting of the freezing air against her cheeks. It’s crowded today – understandably, for New Year’s Eve.
She’s unfamiliar with this town, but just couldn’t wait for Norman and Ray to come all the way home to see them. Better to get them right after their meeting and grab morning tea at a nice cafe. She knows Ray in particular enjoys the indulgence.
Sometimes, Emma, this version of herself, is taken aback by the intensity of her feelings. It’s as if they happen to her, visit this vessel of a body, rather than go through her. It’s the abstract things that bleed through the most – in the time when it was just her and Alex, and her first few months with her rediscovered family, it manifested as a lot of crying."

Jack-centric time loop story with Stanley Cup magic and a lot of well-written angst. Canon divergent after Jack's Cup win at the end of Year 3. Johnson is a major character (second billing!). Featuring Zimbits romance and some fluff but main focus on figuring out the mystery and such. Just. The best.
