Chapter 03: Five cold kisses
“Looking for someone, corn cob?”
Damian suddenly appeared upside down outside the window with a Cheshire Cat–worthy smile painted on his lips, and Jon nearly had a heart attack.
"Whoa!" He pressed a hand to his chest and stared at Damian wide-eyed. "D! I never understand how the heck you do that!"
"Constant practice." With the grace of a cat, Damian lowered himself over the windowsill and brushed a lock of hair from his eyes. He’d been letting his hair grow out lately, and Jon certainly didn’t mind. “Besides, you’re pretty distracted.”
"I'm not distracted. It's just that... wait, what are you doing here?"
"You didn’t reply to my text.” -

Chapter 41: The Talk
“I think we should give Thomas The Talk”.
Damian's sudden comment, made while he was disinfecting his forearm, left Jon speechless. He blinked repeatedly, unable to see the connection between those words and what had just happened.
“Didn’t you do that to him when he was five?” Jon asked, wrinkling his nose as Damian applied more disinfectant to the wound.
“Don’t joke. Look what I found under the mattress while I was making his bed.”Series

“I’ve been busy. And I didn’t think you’d want to do it, to be honest,” he shot back, unable to stop himself entirely. After all, he hadn’t been the one to cool things off, nor the one to back away gasping for air, nor the one to shoot up into the sky and vanish like a shooting star. So yes, maybe Jon deserved that hint of bitterness.
“Of course I wanna talk! I... I needed to think.” He ran a hand through his hair and massaged his neck immediately afterwards. “And I know full well that's no excuse. Not after what I did.”
“It wasn't easy for me to open up like that, Jonathan.” Damian didn’t look up from the puddle he’d started staring at. “Try to imagine how I felt when—”
“I made you suffer, and you didn’t deserve it.” -

Summary
“It’s so strange,” Damian whispered out of the blue, catching Jon’s attention.
They were sitting on some logs not far from the farm, gathering stones and shards to make a controlled bonfire, both lost in watching the flickering flames that had begun to crackle in the sunset light; they had drawn close to one another beneath the stars, which had taken on a whole new aspect during those years when the burden of the world and their fathers' legacy had fallen upon them. Finally, they let themselves be carried away by the tranquility of the countryside, which overshadowed everything.
“What?” Jon asked in return, sliding closer. “Running off without telling me anything or still being alive to put up with my complaints about it?” he added sceptically, hearing Damian grumble in response.
“You’re going to hold this over me forever, aren’t you?”

"I knew I'd find you up here".
Damian blinked beneath his mask and looked up. Jon's dark cloak billowed in the wind against the moonlight. Damian shook his head before looking back at the now silent street. "What are you doing here, J?" he asked, and Jon lost altitude.
"I... felt a surge in your heartbeat," Jon admitted, scratching the back of his neck. "So I thought you were brooding again."
Damian wanted to laugh. Jon knew him so well that it was almost exhausting, but he would never admit that he was right. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Okay, let's play your game," he joked, sitting down next to Damian. "I'll just sit here."
They remained in complete silence for what seemed like forever. Neither of them intended to break the moment by saying anything to the other. Sometimes, they knew, simply sitting on the roof of a building was far more meaningful than a thousand words, but it was Damian who broke the silence with a long, heavy sigh, as if he was exhaling everything he had been holding inside until that moment.

“He’s never gotten a chance to play with other kids before,” his dad had said as they sat at the kitchen table, “he hasn’t ever really played at all.”
“What?!” Jon had exclaimed, knocking over his glass of milk (which his dad caught), “Not even sports? Or-or board games? Or Roblox?!”
Jon couldn’t imagine a life without getting to play or run around in the backyard. Jon couldn’t imagine a life without his friends.
“Not even Roblox, buddy,” his dad had replied.
What a sad life Damian must have.
Or: Bruce wants Damian to have a normal childhood so he asks Clark to introduce him to Jon. This solves one issue and creates several more.

[ After a minute of silence, Damian sighs and his hands drop down to his sides. “There is a cat cafe I would like to visit. Jon has mentioned before that he would like to visit one and I think this one might be suitable.”
“I appreciate you telling me, but my questions from before still stand.”
Another minute of silence.
“I… would like to have a companion.”
“Why?”
“It’s…” Damian’s face starts getting a little pink. He continues, quieter than before, “I would like your opinion on the cafe as well, as a person who enjoys cats and the occasional coffee.” ]
Damian drags Tim to a cat cafe, unintentionally becomes a regular, and maybe intentionally bring a couple cats home
