Caught in the moment as he was, he almost didn’t hear the front door opening. Zemo must have left the park earlier than usual. Bucky turned to instinctively greet him and then froze.
Zemo was home.
Fuck.
Fuck.
“Steve,” he said quickly, “Steve, listen, don't—”
But his warning was too late. There was a blur of blue and white, and Bucky only just registered what was happening as the shield was flung through the air. His vibranium arm darted out and barely managed to catch it before it could collide with Zemo’s head.
“Well, this is certainly unexpected,” Zemo said with blatantly feigned calmness. “I must say, it’s a pleasure to see you too, Captain Rogers.”Or: Three years after the Flag Smashers were stopped, Zemo has been helping Bucky and Sam on missions for Wakanda as part of his penance.
Zemo and Bucky are in an Established Relationship™ and Bucky, unexpectedly, seems to have finally found some sort of balance and happiness.

Summary
Bucky accidentally time-traveled to the early 2000s with no way back. Unfortunately for the timeline, he can’t just sit idly by without changing history. He assassinates Pierce and a ton of Hydra top brass, kidnapping the Winter Soldier. However, he’s still stuck in the past and needs resources to continue his mission. He decides to ask Helmut Zemo for help, intending to give Zemo an over-qualified bodyguard and intel in return for protection and money, but Zemo has other ideas.

After their little quickie at the club; Bucky guided a very drunk Zemo back to their safe-house (one of the Baron’s many properties) in Mitte, central Berlin. It took an Uber ride from the club and a long elevator ride to get up to the penthouse. The whole time he was dying to touch the other man again and again, as soon as possible. Decades of sensory deprivation being suddenly overcome like a dam bursting. Bucky felt half-mad with eager desire. He had made a promise to make Zemo scream and he intended to make good on it.
Bucky keeps his promises.
