The sea does not like to be restrained. Yet that's all Perseus has been for over 200 years.

Caged beneath the waves, Perseus longs for freedom. When he finally makes it above the surface, it's like a long forgotten dream from his childhood. Perseus embraces the warmth, staring straight into the sun.

What he doesn't realize is that the sun stares back.

    No one saw it coming.

One moment, Manhattan was Manhattan—horns blaring, crowds rushing, coffee cups in trembling hands. The next, the sky cracked. And everyone could see.

News cameras caught it. Phones streamed it. People screamed and ran, but there was nowhere to run—not from monsters that could smell fear, or from gods who didn't seem to care.

The Mist, that ancient enchantment that shielded mortals from the divine, was gone.

And the world went to war. Hope collapsed. And from the ruins, prayers began.

They prayed to the only face they had seen standing between humanity and the darkness. Old grainy footage of a boy fighting to protect others.

    They called him Perseus.

    Summary

Apollo was having a perfectly good morning- right up until he vomited down the side of the sun chariot. Which was incredibly strange, if you asked him, because gods simply do not get sick.
As if that weren’t strange enough, an unintended meet-up with Percy Jackson in a Target parking lot revealed that the demigod was hearing prayers- something that Apollo was actually not responsible for, despite what Percy seemed to think.
Apollo didn’t need his prophetic powers to know this was going to be a looong day. But hey- at least he got to spend it with Percy. (Which, naturally, improved things considerably).
