Summary
Tails is a hero. Dependable, threatening, responsible. Which makes him an adult in the eyes of many– he’s a war veteran, after all. Fought to take back their world just the same as anyone older than him. He’d manufactured the wispons, and he was expected to wield them and himself against any threat possible.
It didn’t matter that the radio-silence from Sonic and the pressure caused him to run away. He’d returned. He’d grown up. He had to.
It just meant that he had to grow faster. So he did, and he will– Tails is excellent at changing himself for the sake of others. It’s what he grew up doing, and it’s what he’ll keep doing.
So it starts with a favour.

Summary
Maybe Shadow could have gotten past the fact that they both had nearly the exact same colour of hair, or their eyes were the same blinding blue. That they were both geniuses, despite being so young. That sometimes when the boy spoke in that stupid, annoying, raspy voice of his, the Ultimate Lifeform's ears toyed with it, retuning it until it reached his brain as the voice of a slightly older human girl who had that same kind of rasp on bad days.
But why, why on Earth, did Miles Prower have to act just like his sister?
Or:
Everything Tails does reminds Shadow of Maria. Not his fault, it’s just that they’re. Like. Basically exactly the same person.

Summary
Sonic isn’t the first alternate version of the speedster who Alt-Tails has met. He’s the second. But that’s the thing about Sonics, they’re heroes so you want to trust them, they smile and it makes you think they actually care. However, Sonics only want one thing from Tails.
It’s just a shame he had to learn the same lesson twice.
Or, it turns out there’s a reason Alt-Tails doesn’t trust any version of Sonic.
