Effie blinked a little when she heard his voice on the other line. She was so surprised that she had to take a seat. “Haymitch?”
“Did you hear the news?” he repeated, neither confirming nor denying his identity.
But she knew it was him. She would always recognize that raspiness in his voice after having several drinks.
The only news Effie could think of was that Peeta and Katniss were leaving.
