“Uh huh, right.” Dean takes a sip of his beer, smugness still in full effect.
“What?”
“Foxholes, Sammy. It happens. Remember Annie Hawkins?” Dean leans his elbows on the table, raising a suggestive eyebrow.
“Cas isn’t—It’s not like that. I would never hook up with him and just leave. He’s too important to me. I—”
Fuck. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.
When Sam told Cas he could watch Netflix in his bedroom, he definitely didn't plan on the angel draped enticingly across his mattress, stirring up feelings Sam has spent years stuffing down. Great. This is just great. No possible way this could end badly.

Ogilvie sits on a park bench for two hours, trying and failing to convince himself to waltz back into the ER. He makes a list of all the reasons why he should go back. They start off optimistic, like how if he scrubbed in again, he might finally get that third intubation. Then they turn desperate. Going back would show resilience, or maybe some kind of pitiful determination, like a dog that still plays fetch after you kicked it in the ribs.
More importantly, his bag is still there, keys in the front pocket.

“Yeah I realized that, I am a fuckin' doctor. Student doctor. Whatever.” he replies, turning to squint at the man sitting next to him. “Look, can you just get Dr. Robby? He’ll tell you I'm fine, I gotta get back to work, I got… patients and shit.”
The man looks at someone behind him, some expression he can’t quite figure out. He starts to say something else, and—oh shit he’s gonna throw up fuck—he tries to lean away and not vomit all over anyone else. He doesn't quite make it.
“Shit,” yeah, he definitely ruined that guy’s shoes. Whoops. “Sorry.”

Dr. Robby stops him with a hand on Whitaker’s waist, there and gone. “Really,” he says low, directly into his ear, beard scratching his cartilage, “that was amazing. You didn’t waste any time starting compressions. That probably saved that baby’s life. You saved that baby’s life.”
The praise goes to his head, suffusing him with endorphins. “Thank you, Dad.” And he promptly wants to crawl out of his skin and slither down the drain with the after birth slop.

That's probably why he still hasn't ended things with Robby, despite the man making it clear they were not, and likely will never be together officially. Habits were hard enough to break on their own without the added emotional attachment, but if Dennis wanted to be happy, he knew he had to break free of the hold Michael Robinavitch had on him. Luckily for Dennis, he has all the support he needs, with love waiting in the wings to strike.

Sam shifted his weight anxiously from foot to foot, spring-loaded and ready for anything he might try to throw his way. “What is this?” he panted. “Are you real?”
“Oh, I’m as real as it gets.” Palms upturned, Higgs slowly began to lift his arms out to his sides. “Now, this little game of ours may have been on pause for a while, but what do you say we get back to it, hmm? Amelie or no Amelie, the big number six is—” His voice faded.
And then he stopped. He froze in place, and even at a distance, even under the hood of his suit, Sam could tell something was wrong.
Then the BTs came, screaming and clawing and bubbling up from the ground at Higgs’ feet. Sam drew his weapon, but there was no need. They were focused on Higgs, and Higgs alone. Very quickly, he began to sink into the tar.
Sam doesn’t know why he did what he did. He should’ve turned and walked away; let them drag that fucker down with them where he belongs. Maybe that would’ve tasted like justice. Hell, the place was already a crater – what more damage could a Voidout even do?
But no. Instead, he ran straight towards the fray.
