Two others braided white blossoms into her hair so that they formed a pretty crown. When they were finished and Mikasa was allowed to look at her reflection, she’d gasped, exclaiming that she looked like a bride. Her sisters laughed again.
“Well, aren’t you?”

Eren has half a mind to ask what the hell has gotten into her when she lifts one small, trembling hand to his cheek and surges forward to kiss him on the mouth.

Summary

After a couple of weeks in recovery and isolation it’s unanimously decided by the elders of the village that she can stay permanently. There are only two conditions.
The first is that she does not reenter the forest under any circumstances. This is strictly forbidden. Those We Do Not Speak Of reside there.
They are the monsters Eren was talking about.
“Red is the bad color,” she’s told secondly. It’s unsafe to wear, unsafe to eat, and any red wildflowers and berries should be buried as quickly as they bloom. The color red is a bad omen and summons the mysterious They.
With her memory failing more and more day by day and nothing solid to fall back on, Mikasa has no choice but to begrudgingly accept these terms.
