    Jack watched, wide-eyed, at what Stoick now clutched in his hands, and he ducked behind the rocks to quietly vomit whatever breakfast he’d been able to shove down.

    He knew what it was, the wind whispering it in his ears as he retched. He didn’t need to know, but it seemed the wind had a different way of helping their friends come to a realization they’d been denying.

    Hiccup’s boot, and inside, was his bloody, charred foot.

    Hiccup and Toothless hadn’t made it out in one piece; the wind probably couldn’t find them because they were most likely in several. If not, his foot might’ve been the only piece of them to make it out of the fire.

    They were gone.

    Or, Hiccup runs away after the Red Death, believed to be dead, until five years later

At least until a young apothecary girl with sharp blue eyes, a splattering of freckles, and was as blunt as a hammer comes into his life. Despite having everything handed to him on a silver platter, Jinshi had lived a lonely and dull life where he learned to hide his true face behind a façade he presents to the court… until he meets Maomao.

    For the first time, someone sees past his mask to his true self and she fills his world with color. Jinshi's feelings for Maomao evolve from initial curiosity and amusement to deep affection and romantic interest until he realized he cannot live without her.

    This is going to be a retelling of the Apothecary Diaries only they’re told from Jinshi's POV, based on both the anime and light novels. (Season 1-2 of the anime, Light Novels 1-4)
