Summary
After gifting Shadow his den so he has somewhere safe to stay while on the run, Sonic promises to keep his fugitive identity and their growing friendship a secret so he can protect him. Meanwhile, the Wachowski's are under strict orders from G.U.N. to report any sightings of Shadow's whereabouts and are totally clueless to the stowaway hiding in their back garden.
However, Sonic’s plans to keep both sides of his life from colliding are dashed when Tails finds out he’s been sheltering Shadow, and now it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the family catch on, too.
Sonic is faced with the option to come clean and betray Shadow’s trust by admitting everything to his family, or jeopardising Maddie and Tom’s livelihoods by staying silent and deceiving G.U.N.
Unless, or course he just maintains a perfect balance without letting his two lives overlap. That should be fine so long as he can keep his (probably, maybe, definitely romantic) feelings for Shadow under wraps.

Summary
Shadow the Hedgehog had never considered himself a good person, nor would he ever. No matter how many times he had saved the world, his unapproachable demeanor and aggressive attitude led some to label him as rude, even comparing him unfavorably to his blue counterpart.
Shadow understood that he and Sonic were fundamentally different. Sonic walked the path of light; his kindness and optimism were unmatched and unbreakable. In contrast, Shadow walked the path of darkness, isolated and burdened by the pain that lingered in his mind and body.
Unlike Sonic, Shadow didn’t see himself as a good person; so, why was this happening?
"Shadow, Vanilla wanted you to take care of Cream. That was in her will: for Cream to remain in your care from now on."
Shadow looked down at the small bunny holding her stuffed bear. She gazed up at him with an expression full of longing and uncertainty.
"What?"
"Mr. Shadow, do you like Mr. Sonic?"
