Lucius takes advantage of their shock to continue speaking. “Avery needs to speak to our Lord. Have any of you seen him?” He’s not sure if he wants a positive or negative response.
As it turns out, the answer he gets is even worse: they all shake their heads, but then Rabastan drains his glass and rises. He’s steady on his feet, so either his alcohol tolerance is as good as it used to be or that was his first drink. Both are possible. Lucius doesn’t ask because he has a dawning sense of horror that he is about to have a much bigger problem: the mortifying ordeal of company.
Or: Lucius's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, featuring the motley crew and Avery being the village idiot.

“You must ask first,” Voldemort says, watching those beautiful, light grey eyes be engulfed with red. Voldemort simply cannot decide which colour he prefers on Sirius. The grey typical of the Blacks, or the shining red, to match Voldemort’s own.
Sirius pants, the little he is able to with Voldemort restricting his air supply. Sirius hates this, hates bending his pride to Voldemort’s will. However, nothing in the world is stronger than Lord Voldemort’s will, and Sirius is no exception. Especially when his instincts — to give in to, to obey, to feed -- overcome every other thought.
OR
Sirius Black gets turned into a vampire. Voldemort is the one to care for him. (Pure smut.)
