She’d figured working on her birthday would go smoothly; only a few knew that it was her birthday. To everyone else, it was just another day in The Pitt.

Victoria knew that Trinity knowing meant Princess and Perlah also knew. Those three worked faster than light traveled.
Cassie knew too, she’d learned one night Victoria was babysitting Harrison and he’d asked so he could add it to the family calendar that hung in their kitchen. He’d also insisted on adding a star sticker to the date. He’d even made Cassie and Victoria both promise that they’d get ice cream and watch a movie the Saturday after her birthday. So, today, Victoria Javadi was going to work for 15 hours and tomorrow, Victoria Javadi was going to Cassie McKay’s, walking to get ice cream – before dinner, because that’s what should happen on one’s birthday – and staying for dinner and a movie. A definitely not date, with her definitely older, definitely not, crush and her son. No big deal.
