His eyes are doe-like too, big and pretty and always, always staring. I’m not like, judging you, he said to him, only two days into Warped and in between rounds of Mario Kart on My Chem’s bus, when this thing with Mikey hadn’t quite taken over his whole brain yet, I just like to observe people. It’s kind of like that thing you do when you ask someone twenty questions in one breath. It’s how I learn about you. He remembers even more than his words; the way Mikey had knocked his shoulder into Pete’s right after, and left it there, how he felt like their bodies had clicked into place. The memory is still so vivid, he gets warm just thinking about it.
