Summary
Minho felt heat slam up the back of his neck. His heart was beating like it had slipped into survival mode, every nerve bracing for impact. He clung to the counter with both hands, knuckles bone-white. “Minji,” he said, carefully - so carefully it hurt. “I need you to be completely honest with me right now.” His voice trembled like a bridge under pressure. “Did you go to the party across the street last night?”
The words burned on the way out. Not just because he didn’t want to know, but because he hated the person they belonged to. The tone. The suspicion. The way it sounded like something he’d heard growing up - cold and hollow and waiting for failure.
But this wasn’t about his father. This was about Jisung. Jisung, who encouraged recklessness like it was enlightenment. Jisung, whose porch was a revolving door of mistakes waiting to happen. Jisung, who was loud and smug and infuriating and - if she said yes -
If she said yes, Minho wasn’t going to knock. He was going to tear that man’s door off the hinges.

Summary
“So what’s your call?” Seungmin asked, balancing the coin on his forefinger and thumb.
Minho held up crossed fingers. “Tails.”
“Alright. One, two, three—”
Seungmin flipped the coin in the air, and as soon as it landed in his palm, he slapped it onto the back of his other hand without revealing it.
Minho eyed his two friends warily. “Wait, what’s the punishment if I guess wrong?”
“You have to ask someone out on a date in front of us,” Changbin said.

Summary
Admittedly, it would be far easier to tell Jisung he’s hot as hell than for Minho to confess he likes him. Desire is clean, elemental— it flares and burns. And attachment is tying one’s wrists in silk cord and setting down on a silver platter, offering not only the body but the marrow inside it. To like someone is to invite consumption. To like, love someone is to sharpen the knife for them.
Minho likes to think he doesn’t surrender to things. Not to feelings, not to Jisung, not to fleeting moments of warmth. It’s all painfully untrue. And for someone struggling with sincerity —his therapist’s delicate euphemism— it is entirely expected. Truth is a currency he spends sparingly, and only when it suits him.
or: Minho works in a tattoo shop in Paris—and so does Jisung, which is the beginning of every problem worth having.

Summary
Minho keeps a watchful eye on all movement, even as the crowd respectfully parts for them. They could never be in any real danger within the city walls, but the habit of being hypervigilant when it comes to Jisung is one he will never be able — or willing — to break.
He follows closely behind him, a shadow personified, and does what he does best: protects him.
—
or, Minho basks in the light of unrequited love for the man he has sworn to protect with his life, as duty and destiny loom overhead. Crown Prince Jisung, on the other hand, has never been one to yield to so-called fate.
