Summary
In the van, Mike said it was just dumb luck that Superman landed on his doorstep when he met El. It was ironic, really, because that was how Will felt about the day he met Mike. He was the miraculous, unexpected arrival. He was the boy who sat down beside Will on the swings and made the whole world tilt toward him, bright and possible. They pumped their legs so hard that day, Will was convinced they were going to take off and fly together. Mike had always made him feel like he could do anything. Anything.
Part 5 of 5 follows Will Byers (Vol. 1) and Mike Wheeler (Vol. 2) through one last summer in Hawkins. With Vecna still missing, Max still in a coma, and the town sealed under lockdown, the party prepares for a final fight. As Will begins to understand the truth of his connection to the Upside Down, Mike is forced to confront a truth of his own. Friends don’t lie, but some truths are harder to tell than others.

Will Byers went missing in November 1983. When he got back, people started to question things. Started to question Joyce. If she really was stable enough to care for her youngest.
Moving in with Lonnie, far away from Hawkins, is bound to change Will fundamentally. What if Lonnie’s presence turns him into someone the Will from before would hate. Someone who the party wouldn’t even recognize.

Seven years is a long time to be unhappy, and Mike and Jane have spent every second of it proving it. The Party has spent just as long cleaning up the mess — mediating endless fights with no resolution in sight. And signing a lease together in NYC for their freshman year of college has only made the situation even more unbearable.
No one expected Will getting a boyfriend to be the thing that finally broke them.

Summary
Dustin has regained his energy, completely oblivious to the way Will is short-circuiting. “Did Mike not tell you? God, this whole time Sam’s been too busy to even say hi on a phone call, and now he’s swinging by for the ‘childhood friends’ reunion. Can you believe it?”
“No, I just—I mean, no, he didn’t, but—” He purses his lips, a feeble attempt to stop their quivering. “You said boyfriend.”
“Well, yeah.” When Will hears how sure Dustin sounds, how steady his voice is, a gust of air shoots to the back of his throat and he almost chokes on it. Dustin looks at him, really looks at him, swallowing and digesting his shaky fingers, watery eyes, twitching mouth. With each second that passes, Dustin’s face morphs, shifting from confused, all furrowed and crumpled, to disbelieving, mouth agape and eyes wide. “Oh–oh, fuck.”
