“I’ll see you tomorrow, hyung. Please make sure you get some rest tonight.”
“Or else we’ll have to kidnap you and make sure you’re taking care of yourself!” Beomgyu smiles, like it’s a joke, but Soobin’s only half-convinced. It’s not like kidnapping a random, nobody of a person like Soobin would be difficult. He takes another step back. Kai nudges Beomgyu in a way that has the shorter alpha wincing.
“Hyung! You can’t just say that! You’ll scare him!”
“Aish, it was a joke! I promise!”
Nope. Soobin’s not risking it.
Ignoring the rest of their conversation about the merits and morality of kidnapping him to make sure he ‘eats enough tteokbokki and ice cream!’, Soobin turns on his heel and power walks to the back room without a single glance back.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Taehyun sounds like he's crying. "Don't you trust me?"
Oh, no.
"It's hyung's responsibility, not yours," Soobin says.
"It's not about that," Taehyun cries, muffling his words against Soobin's neck. "You never let me take care of you, hyung, and I don't know why."
Soobin will happily take care of everyone else and give all of himself to his members, but never relies on them in return. Taehyun understands this as a lack of trust between them. Soobin doesn't see it at all, until it chews him up and spits him out.

“Your hands are shaking.” The Emperor finishes his thought gracefully. It's the first time they've spoken–even their courtship contained no correspondence aside from the many gifts that piled high in Soobin's room at the manor, untouched. Most, if not all, had come with him on the journey. “Are you perhaps cold?”
“Oh,” he says stupidly. “No, your Majesty.”
He clams up immediately after, tongue thick behind his teeth, unable to offer any more clarification than what he's already given. The wine jar settles onto the table without any incident, and Soobin's shaking hands settle atop his knees, smoothing over his robes. Mustering up his courage, he forces himself to continue.
“I suppose I'm just nervous.” Growing up, he'd been encouraged to be truthful. Not that much encouragement was needed–he'd been honest to the point it was a fault. Even so, that changed as soon as his mother decided he was meant for bigger things. She'd swiftly changed her tune–Soobin-ah, if you need to lie, the best way to do so is with a partial truth. Choi Soobin is not cold, nor is he nervous. He is terrified.
