And all Avery does is pick the flowers, fill the well. and clear the ferns. Everyone is screaming at him, but none of them can make a sound. The soundboard is turned off, after all.

Avery gets hit off a cliff, and finds one last thing in his recording, from the part of it that got corrupted.
Derek finds himself in unimaginable pain, before blacking out, and waking up somewhere so familiar to him, that it hurts more than anything before that.
Avery gets to speak to Hastur, at least. The King in Yellow is not at all helpful.

Stanley would never forget the look in Ford’s eyes when he met them for the first time in a decade.
Gone was the bright, hopeful light he’d grown up with.
Gone was the anger that had once made Stan’s stomach knot.
Gone was the dejected look that had filled those eyes as the curtain had closed on their last interaction.
Stanford’s eyes were empty, sunken, devoid of all feeling. Devoid of all thought, even.
Stan had played out a billion scenarios of how Ford would respond upon seeing him.
He hadn’t accounted for the option that he… wouldn’t respond at all.
