“Just get out, Nico,” Will snapped, voice raising even louder than Nico’s. “I don’t want to see you in here. Ever again! Get the fuck out of my infirmary, and don’t ever come back!”
Even through his anger, he recognized he’d gone too far. His stomach dropped in guilt as he became aware of all the wide eyes on him and Nico, became aware of Nico’s blown away expression. He opened his mouth to apologize, but Nico shook off his mortification and stood up straight.
“Fine!” he yelled. “Screw you, Will.”
He turned and stormed out of the infirmary, faster than Will could call out and ask him to wait. He stared at the place Nico had just been standing before sinking down into a squat, head in his hands.

Will had never been a reckless person.
He had never snuck out of his house, or skipped school, or drank a sip of alcohol when he was under 21.
He always made sure to help his mom with the chores, he always took his vitamins, and was always on time for class.
"Come on, live a little!" He heard that from his friends a million times, but he didn't quite understand.
He loved his quiet little life, he didn't think anything was missing from it, and he wasn't looking forward to any of that useless adrenaline or danger kids his age were always after.

Will perches an eyebrow up in surprise and worry but comes over anyway. As soon as he’s within arms length, Nico latches his hand onto the fabric of Will’s shirt and pulls Will down towards him. Will’s lips collide against Nico’s as Nico releases out a sigh of content, the earlier feelings of dread slowly starting to mingle into something else. Something different, a feeling he’s too familiar with whenever Will’s around him, looking at him, touching him like this.

Sally crouched down in front of where Nico sat on the couch, and smiled warmly at him. “Percy tells me you don’t have a place to stay at the moment,” she said, gentle and non-judgemental.
Nico shot Percy an accusatory glare, but he annoyingly didn’t baulk at the daggers Nico was sending him, nor did he show any regret in telling Sally about his personal life. “I’m fine.”
“A brave, independent kid like you? I’m sure you are.”
Sally’s praise shouldn’t have pleased him as much as it did, and Nico had to physically stop himself from preening. When was the last time he had received a compliment from a parental figure?
“But... if you’re looking for a place you can use as a homebase, there is plenty of space for you here.”
(Canon divergent AU in which Nico moves in with Percy, Sally, and Paul post-BOTL)
