Summary
Duang is walking alone on a cold night, weighed down by dread, loneliness, and a lifetime of "fake optimism" and faltering hope. He's used to being on the run, hiding from people who want things from him. While scanning the streets out of habit, he locks eyes with a mysterious figure across the road. He blinks, and the figure vanishes.
Duang dismisses it as his usual episodes and his missed medication. He changes his route through an alleyway to get home faster. But then he hears footsteps behind him. He tries to speed up, trips, and panics, only to turn around and find no one there. When he looks forward again, the figure is right in front of him.
The man introduces himself as Qin; calm, smirking, and unsettlingly intrigued by Duang. He invades Duang's personal space, tucks hair behind his ear, and toys with him despite Duang's clear discomfort. Duang tries to push him off, but he's exhausted and shaken.
Qin's teasing intensifies. He whispers, "Don't think too much of this." Then he bites down on Duang's neck with sharp teeth, feeding on him. Duang is paralyzed not by fear alone, but by something more confusing. He wants to resist but finds he can't and won't admit the shame of not wanting to.
