Summary
Often times, the Gods are crueler than they are kind. Maekar has lived his entire life in the shadows, learning how to restrain himself and his emotions. With his presentation comes the cost of burying his feelings for eldest brother, Baelor. After all, even the shadows cannot hide the scent of longing and desire.
An alternate history of Maekar and Baelor's life together.

As they near the throne, Maekar is fully aware of one pair of eyes that has been burned into his soul and body since the day he was born. His brother’s heterochromic eyes, one blue and one the shade of umber, follows each of his steps as he comes closer.
Maekar presents, and the royal family wants to do a ceremony to celebrate and maybe find a husband for the prince. There is a tourney and uncle daemon is present. Asks for Maekar favour... their father king Daeron ends up allowing it...
“I would never crown you out of pity,” he says softly, leaning their foreheads together.
Maekar sighs, “Then why did you crown me?”
Baelor’s eyes are serious as he looks into Maekar’s violet ones, “Because you are, now and always, my Queen of Love and Beauty.”“Maekar… you deserve so much more than to be a secret. To be my secret,” Baelor says, his heterochromic eyes shining with the pain of his next words. “One day, you will see that, qelītsos.”
“There is a type of beauty that exists in the world that is not commonplace. Most unobservant men would not be able to discern such a beauty because on the surface it is harsh or cruel. But for those who know where or how to look for it, they will find that it is a type of inescapable beauty that haunts for life.”
“You were mine first,” Maekar feels sober as he says this.
“I will always be yours,” he hears Baelor’s muffled response.
“Truly? From this day until the day I die?” Maekar wonders aloud. -

Summary
Baelor was glad he was trapped between Maekar and the wall, otherwise he might have collapsed. His knees felt weak, barely able to carry his weight. The blade was still at his throat. It was a sharp thing, made from Valyrian steel, so it wouldn‘t even start to get dull. Maekar could very well kill him with this blade. A single, quick strike across his throat and Baelor would suffocate on his own blood at Maekar‘s feet.
He was at Maekar‘s mercy.
***
Maekar is upset at Baelor's lack of guards when he goes outside and wants to make a point. Baelor finds out he gets turned on by Maekar holding a knife against his throat.

Summary
"Do not mistake me for Aerys or Rhaegal," he muttered, voice strained with forced control, though Baelor could hear the metered exhale of his breath. "Do you hear me?"
Maekar's grip tightened, and Baelor felt his weight more acutely up the length of his spine as he bent nearer again, "do you hear me?" he asked once more, a mean edge to his voice- as if he were asking Baelor if he yielded with his sword knocked free of his hand and Maekar's knee shoving his gorget against his throat. The answer had been obvious then, as it was obvious now. Baelor had always evaded such an answer, enjoying the life and vicious spirit in his brother's eye; he evaded the answer now, though he had nothing to stare at besides the grain of the table.
Do you yield?

Summary
Maekar locked the door and turned around, posture straight and hands behind his back. He stood there like a statue, in his silk embroidered dressing gown, firm and strong and unyielding.
“I have come. Don’t make me regret it.”
The other man chuckled. “I will treat you like the prince you are.” He got up, robeless with naught but his braies on, and approached his brother. “My prince,” Baelor whispered to himself.Bookmarked by Magdaspacheco
