Obviously, Sonic hadn't exactly had the greatest of times aboard the death egg. After all, it certainly hadn't been some fun-filled holiday space cruise.
“Boring” he had described it, “torture” Rouge had.
Very conflicting reviews if Sonic did say so himself, and neither were entirely accurate. Sonic didn't particularly like that she had used that word, but it was still a far better option than the truth of it all.
Things would have perhaps been a little easier if he had simply just been tortured.
((Sonic left the death egg with a burning in his body, and a flame he didn't know how to extinguish.
He doesn't go about it in the best way.))

Sonic takes another long sip before contently wrapping his hands around the mug, basking in the heat that seeps through his gloves.
He suddenly hears a loud crunch from next to him. He whips his head around, coming face to face with a Shadow that has a mouth full of coffee beans.
Sonic doesn’t repress the urge to laugh, although since he’s tired, it mainly comes out as a delirious giggle.
”Dude, I don’t think you’re supposed to eat those.” He laughs.
OR
After Sonic and Shadow’s meeting by the river, the two go to Sonic’s (Tails’) house.
