Summary
“Goodnight,” she emphasized with a teasing smile. It was wise, she thought, not to go too fast. To relish in something she just felt comfortable opening herself up to. It was freeing, but part of her worried that if they - she - rushed things, it would just dissipate. Dissolve. Best to cherish what she had to make it last. Not pluck the fruit before it was ripe. “Just…goodnight. There are other nights - and there will be other nights.”
“You promise?” Her kiss was almost the sealing argument on what was sounding like a good idea.
“...promise.”
OR: what if Jamie had stayed *that* night?

Summary
Nancy leaned in, voice low under the pulse of the song. “Robin Buckley,” she said, slow and deliberate, “you’re hired.”
Robin froze. Her face lit with equal parts delight and terror, like she’d just realized she was about to be recruited into something insane.
“Okay,” she whispered, reverent. “But you have to tell me what I'm being hired for before I go back on air and accidentally announce it to all of Indiana.”
➽───────────────❥
Nancy Wheeler has exactly three goals: survive senior year, graduate with her future intact, and avoid getting dragged back into the kind of relationship drama she’s already chosen to walk away from.
Unfortunately, Jonathan wants closure. Steve keeps showing up. And neither of them seems to understand that no is a complete sentence.
Hiring Robin as a professional buffer is supposed to be a practical solution. Nothing more than a clean exit strategy.
It becomes something else entirely.

Summary
Robin swept into the shop with the energy of a windstorm that had learned how to walk, cheeks pink from the cold and eyes bright with mischief. She tipped her head back and inhaled like she was tasting the air.
“Oh,” she said reverently. “This place is delicious.”
Behind her, Steve ducked beneath the lintel, moving with the careful balance of someone who had learned how to stand between danger and other people without thinking about it. His eyes found Nancy’s and held there, earnest and uncertain, like he wasn’t sure whether he deserved to be seen.
Nancy felt the moment shift, routine cracking, something old and restless stirring beneath it. Whatever had been scratching at the edges of Hawkins had just found its way to her door.

The apothecary was supposed to be enough. Nancy built it with her own hands, filled it with remedies, and made herself useful in all the ways that counted.
But Hawkins has gone strange. The way towns do before something terrible happens.
And when rumors of a monster near the churchyard turn into a hunt, Nancy is forced out from behind the counter and into the path of something bigger than she ever let herself want.

Summary
Eighteen months after Season 4, Robin and Nancy have built a daily life that feels dangerously couple-like: coffee every morning at the Squawk, shared edits before going on-air, movie nights that end with their knees pressed together and their hands finding excuses to linger. Robin tries to survive her own longing without crossing a line, while Nancy slowly realizes the “best friend” she can’t stop reaching for is also the person she can’t stop wanting.

In the dark, Robin wrestles her too-big crush, while Nancy sleeps in her neck with a truth she still refuses to name.

Summary
"Imogen. Come on, you've gotta get up. What are you doing out here, anyway? You coulda rolled off the fucking ship like this. Wake up, let's go," they insist, but she just turns onto her side, nearly in their lap now.
"Go back t' sleep, Laud," she mumbles tiredly, muffled by the fabric of his trousers, and Ashton has never frozen so fast.
