I don’t think I’m really cut out to be a coach.” He doesn’t smile, but you don’t think you’re just imagining the way his expression grows a little softer. “But yeah, sure, I guess I’d rank you up there at the top. You’re gonna have to put in a bit more work before you get a gold star, though.” And there it is—another hint of a smirk.
When you and Grusha are forced to take shelter from a sudden snowstorm, you get just the chance you were looking for to put in that work. A gold-star pupil, indeed.
