    Summary

“Worry not, worry not,” Dori repeats, leaning across the table to pat him on the arm. “This one is on sale too, but I really, really, really cannot go below forty-eight thousand.”

    “...Not even forty-five thousand?”

Dori shakes her head, emanating sheer, pure regret. “I’m afraid not.”

Varka considers it. Truly, he does. He thinks about his personal finances, about the scolding he’ll get from Jean for spending such exorbitant amounts of Mora. He thinks about Rosaria and Razor, then about Flins, then about all of them together, sitting in a loose circle by Varka’s side and drinking some sort of cider, perhaps playing that card game he keeps hearing so much about.

In the end, he sighs, then reaches into his pocket, grasping a wallet that would scream if it had a mouth.

Or: Desperate to make sure introducing his partner to his children goes smoothly, Varka purchases yet another guide from Dori. Aided by the expert advice of an ancient text he spent forty-eight thousand mora on, he plays tour guide, bonds with his children, and maybe even earns himself a little reward for all that hard work.

    Summary

'A Rudimentary Guide to the Fae.'
    'Fae Biology: The Basics.'

    Flins looked up at Rerir.
    Rerir avoided his eyes.
He patted his alpha's bicep. "I do hope this knowledge proves useful for you."

    -

Rerir would say he's mentally stable nowadays. He's no longer a pawn in anyone's games (except Kyryll's), doesn't get angry (except due to Kyryll), and is actually very happy (also due to Kyryll). The only problem now is that he wants to bond with Kyryll, mate him properly and put his mark on his neck. But, because of the stupid artisans of Hyperborea, Kyryll has no dynamic.

Rerir will fix this. He will make his bite stick, even if it's unreasonably difficult.

Flins just doesn't understand why a mating mark was so important to the alpha. They were already bound after all.

    Summary

Illuga stumbles upon Flins, Varka, and Vice Captain Lohen playing strip poker and decides he very much likes to join their little game.

“What are you scheming?” Varka says, and Illuga jolts back, his heart nearly jumping out of his chest until he realizes the Grand Master's words were addressed to his Vice Captain and not to him, lurking in the hallway and spying on their game.

“Aww, you hurt me. I never scheme, I demand what I crave. Speaking of, why didn’t we invite little Birdie to play?” Lohen asks.

Flins hums before playing his card. “Our young Master is not one to dabble in such crude games.”

“Says who?!” Lohen voices Illuga’s exact thoughts.

Illuga has half a mind to step in and berate the stubborn man about the probability of him doing the exact opposite of what he thinks, but the moment is gone, so he remains standing cowardly in the empty hallway, not daring to enter nor able to leave.

    Summary

Aventurine leans against the balcony railing, gold city light catching against the rings on his fingers. “You know,” he says, “most people would’ve requested a different room by now.”

Dr. Ratio looks up from his datapad just long enough to meet his eyes. “Most people,” he replies calmly, “are less tolerable than you.”

For a second, Aventurine forgets how to answer.

    Ratio notices that too.

Dr. Ratio and Aventurine are sent by the IPC to Somnus-V, a planet whose economy runs on traded memories and emotion. As they navigate the upper district’s political elite, the two find themselves being constantly monitored in a society built around emotional vulnerability and psychological control. Meanwhile, Aventurine’s growing feelings for Ratio begin complicating a mission that was supposed to remain strictly professional.
