Summary
“Well, you certainly are very perceptive, Star,” Tav clicked their tongue, the pet name they’d given him coming out with venom. It would do no good to allow Astarion to believe they harbored any feelings towards the wizard, be it lust or love. It would only cause rumors and further confusion for Gale. It might even cause arguments were the two to become jealous over each other.
Jealous. The word hung in the back of Tavares’s mind. Was the vampire jealous that they might actually be interested in Gale? Did they want him to be jealous? Want him to be possessive? To show a little desire for their attention? The answer, of course, was yes. They wanted Astarion in every way.
“I might have to consider my options,” they commented, “Especially now that it seems I have your permission.”
“Of course, pet,” the name was spit with as much edge as Tav had just shown, for once it seemed that he was unable to hide his emotions as was his custom.

Astarion glanced toward the rest of your party, now far ahead, and took hold of your wrist. In the next moment, you were pulled into the woods along the trail. His crimson eyes gleamed with interest. “Indulge me.”

Astarion didn't care much for you and your people-pleasing tendencies until he realized exactly what they could mean for him. If you were that desperate for approval—for the hard-earned praise of others—perhaps he could be the one to deliver. There were certainly plenty of benefits for him to reap.
