There is a moment when the Fire Nation soldiers come for Aang where Sokka throws off the pretense of his human form, and is unexpectedly met with a mirror.
The man— boy? The person who had been leading the soldiers down the ramp of the old cruiser discards his human shape at nearly the same moment, and there is a pause, startled as much as anything, where two very uncertain dragons bristle, arch their necks, and hiss like angry, overgrown geese.

Summary
Sokka waits, weighing the pros and cons of chancing stepping out into the lantern lit street once more, and ultimately deciding against it. He turns instead to head back down the alley, twisting his way around the narrowly cleared path filled with empty sacks and crates, and nearly falls flat on his face when his foot catches on something he tries to step over at the same time it tries to jolt away.
Still, he is shocked enough to go wheeling forward, and his bag of carefully procured supplies goes tumbling free to scatter all over the ground as he catches himself. “What the-?”
But the moment his eyes catch it, he is frozen to the spot.
The leg he had fallen over, being pulled beneath a body.
And there is a moment of icy dread, fear instant and instinctual before he can stop it but the sight of shredded clothing, of bruising, of the unfocused gold of a pair of eyes attempting to make sense of him, has a different concern immediately taking over. “Zuko?”

“Okay,” Sokka says when it’s clear Zuko isn’t going to attempt to salvage the situation. “I guess we’ll just babysit Appa and Momo together, then.”
He isn’t quite sure why the thought of spending the week alone with Zuko fills him with such panic, but it’s certainly a question he’ll return to…some other time.
or: Sokka and Zuko are enlisted to watch Appa and Momo at the Western Air Temple. What could possibly go wrong?

“You know what I’m talking about,” Sokka huffs, sounding exasperated. “The silly little love letter I wrote you years ago? When I was like—what, seventeen? Eighteen?”
or: Sokka writes Zuko a love letter. It takes a decade and dealing with one awfully persistent suitor to reach him.

Kanna huffs behind him, and he can hear the crossed arms before he even turns to face her. “Am I sure that you shouldn’t take this sleeping baby out into that? Yes.” She gestures to the bundle currently dozing in the small hammock above her bed. “He will be perfectly fine to stay here and wait out the storm, Hakoda.”
He follows her gaze to his son, and steps closer to reach a hand down and run careful fingers along the softness of his cheek. Sokka snuffles a bit at the touch, but doesn’t rouse for even a second, lips smacking softly as he continues to snooze. “I don’t know, I just… he can be fussy at night, and sometimes he only settles when Kya sings, or Bato dances with him, I don’t want to put you out.”
“Oh for goodness-” Kanna walks to his side, and places a hand on his shoulder. “It might shock you to know this, son , but I have in fact dealt with many a fussy baby in my life. Besides which Sokka is a delight.” She smiles and reaches down as well, pulling up a bit of the fur hood to cover more of Sokka’s head. “Unlike a certain colicky nightmare I very much remember.”
Or: Hakoda gets a night off, and takes full advantage of it
