Summary
Something inside her is waking up- and it’s not going quietly.
Rachel “Rat” Anderson never expected to open her eyes in a hospital room, let alone one where her mother lies burned and unconscious. The official story is a gas leak. But Rat knows the truth. She felt it. In her veins. In her bones. In the fire that didn’t come from anywhere someone ordinary could reach it.
Now, with questions circling and the police closing in, Rat is forced to confront a past she never understood, powers she never asked for, and a future she may not survive. Help comes from an unexpected face- and a dangerous promise. But with her sister still out there and people beginning to vanish, Rat has a choice to make: run from what she is… or burn everything down to find out the truth.

Summary
Stan didn’t know what he expected. Just a larger version of the kid he had known in high school, really. Sure they were identical, but Stan hadn’t been the person who looked like his brother in a long time. New scars, constant stubble, greasy mullet, dirty clothes, couple new teeth…He wasn’t exactly his best self. Ford seemed to be doing just fine, last he heard, what with his fancy house up in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, so he had assumed that he would be more…stable.
He noted his shaking hands, the relentless pacing he had picked up, back and forth through the room like a caged animal. He took in the unshaved face, the sunken eyes with dark shadows so deep they may as well be bruises. He looked pale and skinny, like he hadn’t been eating enough. Still, Ford stared ahead, hands clutching a book he had picked up during his rambles, eyes flicking back and forth like he was reading the blank air.
What was this guy so afraid of way out here?
In which there's slightly more communication when Stan first comes to Gravity Falls, and it makes all the difference.

Summary
Stanford had it all, fame, fortune, a utopia to call his home, and a heavy hand in creating a perfect world. He had his old college buddy, and enough money to retire for over a thousand years.
He was a man that had everything, and nothing at the same time, in his hubris, he lost the one person he wanted this world for. There are some things therapy can never cure, so Stanford puts his attention on fixing his biggest mistake.
Letting Stanley leave.

Summary
Stanford Pines had once believed Bill Cipher to be the center of his world, that he - above anything else - would always do right and service his muse by whatever way the being required.

He wasn't trying to end the world, but Bill had the kids in his clutches, he was going to kill them.
And he couldn't lose his family again. -

Summary
Stan Pines and good decisions go together like oil and water. His latest bad decision? Going home for Hanukkah. Blame it on a phone call, a guilty conscience, or just plain stupidity. Whatever the reason, Stan's rusty El Diablo is pointed towards Jersey, and there's no turning back now.
Snow's falling, tempers are rising, and Stan's stuck in the middle. Happy freaking Hanukkah.
