Carlos rubs his wedding ring with his thumb before he answers Trevor’s latest question. “I wouldn’t say it gets easier. I just learn better ways to distract myself. Like, putting on music instead of being glued to the news. Cooking has always helped, even before I met TK. If I hadn’t come over I probably would have cooked enough pasta to last a week.” Carlos gestures to the pizzas he and Trevor are assembling. He doesn’t mention that one day when TK was in San Angelo due to the forest fire he made so many tamales that he had new worries about storing them all.
