Maybe she could be the kind of person moves worked on, if she let them.
And she had been letting them, was the thing. A hand in the crook of her arm as they walked. A palm against her lower back as Kate reached over her to get the glasses Yelena had been straining for off the top shelf, fingertips digging in surely more than what was necessary for balance alone. Cold toes under her legs on movie nights.
Were those all moves? Would Kate make different moves, if Yelena finally moved back?

New York: 1952.
Katherine Bishop packed it in at the FBI to work in an office downtown. She'd say it was her choice and you better not drill any deeper. Her old mentor, Clint Barton asks for help on a case. A dead man in an alley, no witnesses.
"A mugging," she shrugged, "it's New York."
"No Kate, a mugger doesn't leave this." He slid a photo toward her, never mind the desk wasn't clean. The dead man 's stomach gaped with a ghastly wound. Next to it, a sharp hourglass, freshly carved, shone, even in monochrome.
Meanwhile, Yelena Belova, the White Widow, hunts for a comrade gone rogue. When she realises a PI is working the case, she decides to keep her close. And kill her when she outlasts her usefulness.

A collection of plotless one-shots involving moments in Yelena and Kate's lives.Emotional intimacy and personal growth are the names for this game. Yelena may come off as demisexual in this series, but it's unclear if she really is or if her slow progress is more so related to over-coming trauma (or both). I won't be addressing it with a label, so you can take it however you want. I acknowledge Yelena might be possibly ace/aro in the comics and I totally support that as valid if that's the case. I hope you can forgive me if I don't write her that way in my fanworks.
