Adora has been locked in a tower for her whole life, but on her eighteenth birthday, she decides to explore Bright Moon with Catra, a criminal who stole a magic sword. Adora feels a strange connection to the sword and discovers her true identity.
This is a Tangled AU inspired by fanart by @koujaaku on Tumblr. It more or less follows the movie's storyline. This is my first fic (or first fic I've posted) so I hope it's at least mildly entertaining. Oh also this switches povs but it'll say like "Catra" or "Adora" at the top so y'know who's pov it is. Since idk how a03 really works I just posted it as like,,,, one huge chunk of a story so it doesn't have chapters or whatever.

Summary
In Caitlyn Kiramman's dystopian Piltover, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to cultivating a particular virtue: Candor (the sincere), Abnegation (the altruistic), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful) and Erudite (the intelligent). At an annual ceremony, all sixteen-year-olds must decide which faction they will devote the rest of their lives to. Caitlyn has to choose between staying with her family or being who she really is, she can't have it both ways. So she makes a decision that will surprise everyone, including herself. During the competitive initiation process that follows, Caitlyn tries to figure out who her real friends are, and where falling in love with Vi, a girl who is sometimes fascinating and sometimes infuriating, fits into her life. However, Cait also has a secret, something she hasn't told anyone so as not to put her life in danger. When she discovers a conflict that threatens to unravel the seemingly perfect society in which she lives, she also finds out that her secret could be the key to saving the ones she loves or... to ending up dead.
