Stuck living with Lonnie until he turns eighteen after his parents messy divorce and bullied nonstop at school, he tried to seek solace in his best friends—that was until they started to leave him behind, too.
It’s senior year. Mike is still with Jane. Will is still in love with him despite all attempts to move on.
He had resigned himself that he could never have Mike, and he should be okay with that.
He could deal with the loneliness until he could rejoin his mother and brother after school finishes.
He could handle being undesired. It was fine.
Until an unknown person messages him on AIM one January evening and shows him just how desired he really is.Or: It’s 2003. Mike stalks Will. Will is oblivious as to who it could be—until he isn’t.

But back in their triple dorm room after their very first campus party, Mike can’t sleep. He never noticed the tiny noises Will makes in his sleep. So, he steps closer. Just looking.

Until Lucas catches him, and Mike panics.

Mike lifted one hand in a lazy half-wave.
Carlton straightened up from the stool, offering what he probably thought was a friendly smile. “You must be the roommate. Will talks about you constantly. I feel like I already know you.”
Roommate. Mike’s jaw tightened. The label that didn't get them thrown out of housing - or worse. Still, some petty part of him wished Carlton could see what “roommates” got up to the second that door closed. Whose name Will actually called out at night. How loud he got when Mike had him wrecked and desperate.
Will doesn't notice his project partner flirting with him.

The words hit Mike like a punch to the gut. Troy and James burst into laughter again, but Mike barely heard them. Beside him, Will seemed to shrink into himself, shoulders curling inward as he stared at the pavement. The scent of fear in his pheromones grew stronger.
Something hot and angry twisted in Mike's chest.
His fists clenched at his sides. He could feel his fangs prickling. It was a new sensation, Mike realized, but it was strong. Painfully strong. A dull ache settled in his teeth, and all he wanted was to sink them into something.

He could feel his pulse pounding in his throat, his heart racing faster and faster. A sharp ringing filled his ears. His skin grew hotter with every breath he took, anger coiling tighter and tighter inside him.
