Summary
After her quest for revenge, Mizu returns to Japan. In Nagasaki, she is intercepted and taken to Edo. Akemi forces her to join her husband’s guard. Neither the samurai nor Taigen are pleased about this. Because Taigen assumes that she has been in Japan the whole time and has only returned to claim another victim of her revenge. No one knows that Mizu is in Edo against her will, and Mizu doesn’t know what Akemi really wants from her. After all, Akemi seems desperate enough to want to control someone as uncontrollable as Mizu.

Taigen follows Mizu to London. His gods have abandoned him. First, His ship ist captured by Pirates, then they are trapped by the English navy, and to make Matters worse, he is thrown into prison.
Where are His gods and where is Mizu?
Luckily for him, he seems to matter enough to Mizu that she’s trying to get him out of prison. Maybe it’s the memory of Taigen letting himself be tortured for her sake; maybe she’s just glad not to be alone in a foreign country; and maybe, despite their mutual attraction, the two of them just can’t help but constantly misunderstand each other.

A little Story for Halloween
After the great fire in Edo, Mizu vanished from Taigen’s life—and from the rest of Japan. His life went on in Edo until, during a mission, he ended up in the dungeon of a renegade lord. No wonder he mistakes the man who comes to free him for a hallucination. Just like everything that follows. Part of it stems from the extensive Japanese belief in the worlds of spirits and demons; the other part consists of the side effects that occur when Taigen encounters Mizu.

Summary
When you know too many secrets, your lord might decide the best way to deal with you is a hero's death. So far, Taigen has escaped this fate. Going into a former pirate-now-daimyo's court to get him to give back a city he just conquered might finally change that. And if this mission will not end with his life's blood spilled in the courtyard of Takayama Castle, maybe the demon-woman from his past will just drive him insane.
Mizu had done many things for her lord. After all, he had given her a home after her husband divorced her, and making swords and killing his enemies were things she was rather good at. But seducing a spy? That was surely the most ridiculous request anyone had ever made of her. But if your lord gives you an order, you better be prepared to give it your best shot.
