Julie rushes to say, "She played a crucial part in the unwinding of the past few weeks and is welcomed in our community."
Tabi looks at her with an unreadable expression. They stare at each other for a beat, and Julie feels her cheek heat up. Tabi does too, glancing down from her eyes to her cheeks before grinning.
"Thanks," she says, a teasing glint in her eyes. Julie looks down to her lap, her hands clutch on her sword handle.
