It is currently 2am and I have work in the morning. This piece is so uniquely magnificent I physically can't stop myself from continuing reading. From the pacing to the characterization, every line is heartbreaking, impactful, and has so much depth I'm left stunned. This is not an easy read by any means, but god is it worth it.

He knows, but is drawn evermore into those piercing green eyes, and sly smile, and the way he holds everyone at arm’s length while keeping them close as can be. He's interesting, he’s impressive, and Wanderer wants nothing to do with him while knowing everything about him. He hates it. He hates even more that he is going against his better judgment when he falls for him.

A year out of college, Scaramouche's life is great. He's got a one-bedroom apartment he shares with his wonderfully sympathetic boyfriend, Kazuha, going on their one-year anniversary, and a beautifully opportunistic office job just a twenty minutes' drive away. He's got everything he could ask for. His life is simple and manageable, and Kazuha reassures him he's inching away from the 'illness' that plagues him more and more each day, by the grace of God. He holds his life together by tape and tight corporate smiles, trying desperately to be the healed version of himself he so viciously wants to be.
He isn't, inescapably. The tape rips. Everything comes crashing down after that.
