"I am sorry. it was the only way." that voice. Unknown but familiar? did he imagine it? not the first time he heard voices. he wished he still heard Zack but since the fight in edge, he never heard him again.
he felt like his body didn't belong to him but slowly the feeling faded. He groaned lightly trying to open his eyes.
"Damn Tiff. what did you put in that drink?" Eyes finally obeyed his command to open to immediately regret it. the bright sun making him close them again. cloud forced his body to move, rolling over. trying again Cloud was greeted with grass, dirt, and faint smell of stagnant water.
Eyes agreeing to work now, cloud looked up. no bar, no edge. he was . . . near the old chocobo farm? if he didn't have the pack Tifa gave him or the taste of the cloud special on his tongue. he would have sworn he was dreaming. how did he get here? was it a prank? Yuffie convinced Tifa to? No. She would not do that and Yuffie would have popped out by now laughing and showing what she used to pass him out, like bragging rights.

Summary
Cloud made a promise to Gaia, believing he would return to the past to stop Sephiroth from erasing Cloud’s existence. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned. It didn’t help that the Goddess elected to solve the issue of his continued existence through the use of Sephiroth’s cells. Couldn’t she have made him a bit bigger at least?
When Sephiroth was called to an emergency in Hojo’s laboratory, he didn’t expect to find the Professor dead, nor was he expecting to walk out a father to a mysterious five-year-old boy. Nor was Shinra, for that matter. Nevertheless, he’ll adjust. He hopes.
Shinra’s SOLDIERs hadn’t expected to babysit Sephiroth’s new son, who may or may not be looking to commit patricide.
(AKA Gaia saw Sephiroth needing a family and yeeted Cloud at him like a son-shaped grenade.)
