The story comes out in upset dribs and drabs. Wei Wuxian, the rumour goes, has enthralled a community to do his bidding, and worse yet has suborned Hanguang-jun and forced him to become a concubine of the dreaded Yiling Laozu, treating him as barely more than a courtesan.
It’s so preposterous he can only laugh. What an absolutely absurd and confounding rumour. As if anyone could look at the unyielding Hanguang-jun and imagine him as a demure concubine… dripping in silk and pearls, looking up at Wei Wuxian through his lashes and promising all matter of pleasures… yeah. What was he thinking about again? Right. It’s a silly rumour, no one could believe it.
