“Do you—” Futaba starts to offer, but her voice fails.
Sumire’s still looking at her expectantly.
Futaba awkwardly waggles her hand in the scant space between them. “Would it help if you… held my hand?”
For Futaba, returning to the true reality is a daunting prospect — she and Sumire have that in common. It's hard to drag her out of the tar pit when they're both sinking in it.

Summary

Summary
Yukino can't stand the way Maya gets away with escaping everything.
After defeating Maya's Shadow, Yukino can't help drawing comparisons to her longtime friend Maki Sonomura as Maya dodges hard questions, stares down but doesn't face her Shadow, and all the while, acts as a mentor figure to three teenagers rapidly taking on her avoidant mentality to cope with their troubles. It's not fair, not after everything she's been through.
Distrust is the killer of relationships though, along with its friends, resentment, jealousy, and contempt. As the first creeps into Yukino's life, she has to face the problems she's avoided since meeting Maya Amano, and how she's going to keep their undefinable relationship alive. Is it even worth saving? She has to fight for something, whether it's them, being the best person she can be, or facing Maya with the consequences of her actions.
Maybe, in the end, it'll be her who has to reckon with her choices; same as it's always been.
