Summary
“You need to help me get over him,” Till shook his head, “erase those feelings, whatever.”
Mizi and Sua exchanged a look only they understood —call it the power of love. “I don't think that's what you need, Till,” Sua stated matter-of-factly.
“Then what?”
“You need to flirt with Ivan, test the waters and see if he feels the same about you!” Mizi clapped as if to emphasize the genius idea she'd just had.
“Flirt?” Till choked out. He was already in unknown territory. He’d seen what flirting looked like in rom-coms or whatever, but there was no fucking way it could be applied to real-life practice.
Or: Till catches feelings for Ivan, and Mizi and Sua are on a mission to teach him the art of flirting.

When Mizi gets trapped in an arranged marriage with Luka, everything she holds dear slowly starts to fall apart. And after Sua tragically dies in a fire, Mizi clings to the only thing she has left of her lover: the world she Painted as a child.
It is frowned upon, and worse, forbidden. Yet, consumed by grief, Mizi recreates an identical version of Sua to indulge in a counterfeit happiness, with no intention of ever returning.
Ivan and Till, who have been unable to truly face one another for years, are forced to work together to bring their friend back, in the hope of mending the shattered remains of their fractured family.

Summary
It all started with a box of chocolates placed in his locker on February 14.
At the tender age of seventeen, never once had he been confessed to or given a gift of any sort— he didn’t count his mom, and Ivan, who only gave back what he stole from Till.
All good things must come to an end, or so the saying goes. Well, apparently bad things, too, because for the first time ever in his life, he might have a secret admirer. He grabbed the box to take a closer look and see if the mysterious person had left their name.No tags. No love letters. No names.
Or: Till is gifted chocolates on Valentine’s Day, and Ivan pretends he doesn’t know the identity of the secret admirer.

Summary
“Do you always lure your customers into buying your shi— books like this?”
“Please elaborate on what you mean by like this,” Ivan answers calmly, a smug smile plastered on his face. “I see nothing wrong with engaging with my customers and getting acquainted with them. Better to know your clientele, hm?” He takes a step forward, entering Till’s personal space —Till would back down, but right behind him stand the shelves. Ivan curls his fingers around the book Till is holding. He brushes his fingers with his own as he does so, lingering there purposefully, before he eventually takes the volume to rest it on the shelves. A sigh escapes Till’s lips, and only then does he realize he had stopped breathing.
Yes. Infuriating, just like he said.
Or: Till meets bookseller Ivan after being dragged to the newly opened bookstore by Sua. Things go about as (un)expected as they can.

Summary
His eyes travelled around the familiar features–just older, but the same; thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, and that tooth, peeking over his lip even though his mouth was closed. Till’s chest heaved, and he pulled off his gloves so that his shaking hands could cradle the face, thumbing underneath tired eyes.
This had to be a dream, and he was going to wake up soon–any second now. But time only stretched on, and he was still there in that downpour, hovered over his unconscious body.
“Ivan?” Till squeaked out–a name he hadn’t said aloud in nine years. To anyone else he was always that guy, that brat, that… feeling I didn’t understand until you were gone.
---
Or: While scavenging in the wreckage of a plane crash, Till clashes with a Guard, and comes face to face with Ivan. The real Ivan; the man he thought died in an act of sacrifice, and proceeded to haunt him for years afterwards.

Summary
The next time she sees the boy in the space between the walls, the apathy she got only a glimpse at seems to have settled even deeper within him. He’s sitting on the floor, and she can’t get a read on anything he’s thinking.
It’s been months since then, and while she wouldn’t be able to pick this kid out in a crowd, his look too generic, seeing him here means she immediately knows who he is. Who else at his age would find their way this far back?
“It’s you again, huh,” she says. He nods ever so slightly back at her. She realizes that while she introduced herself the last time she came across him, he never shared his name. “I don’t seem to remember what your name is.”
His eyes narrow ever so slightly. It seems he’s as wary as others as she’s become. She doesn’t let him off easily though and waits until he finally pipes up—“Ivan.”

His new old Ford chugging up the road in the dead of night. All alone apart from a six pack of beer. He sits in front of Eddie's grave and drinks until morning. Saying nothing. Thinking nothing. An emptiness consuming him which he can't explain.
Dustin finds him there one night. And he thinks he might know why Steve just can't move on.

Summary
“Thanks. Seriously,” Till said, though he knew it was long overdue. He shifted in his seat, extending a hand across the center console. Ivan didn’t so much as glance at it. “I’m Till, by the way. Till Becker.”
“I know who you are.”
“Oh,” Till muttered. Slowly, Till withdrew his hand and opted to wipe it awkwardly against his jacket instead. “Right.”
Ivan remained silent.
“I know who you are, too,” Till revealed, trying to lighten the mood
“Great,” Ivan said dryly. “Then we can skip the introductions.”
“Um, okay,” Till mumbled, secretly wishing he never bothered.
“Instead,” Ivan suggested, shrugging, “let’s ask bigger questions. Like, why would you go hiking in the middle of winter?”
---
Or: Till has spent his entire life living up to his dad's legacy, and only half of that time trying to then prove he's more than that. And on that same tipping scale, Ivan spent that same amount of time going straight through his goals--his destiny, only to steer away from his own carefully crafted expectations.
The two of them couldn't be any more different. But opposites do, inevitably, attract.
